‘Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, fabulous?’
Actually, who are you not to be?
I’ve talked myself out of so many things. For every project or action that I materialized, I’ve already battled a thousands thoughts arguing why I will never be good enough for anything that I want. If you are like me, for every goal you cross off you list, the feeling of inadequacy increases. You know why, because you haven’t yet given yourself permission to deserve and get what you want.
Welcome to Day 5.
My most popular post on my blog reached 2,000 views in one day. You know what’s funny though? Instead of celebrating and sharing it for more people to see, I thought about deleting it. It’s absurd isn’t it, that the very thing I was aiming for had become a source of anxiety and all I wanted to do was delete my blog and hide.
Of course I was overjoyed with the traffic on my blog, but it also unveiled a deep seated fear in me that I wasn’t ready for the spotlight and I would most likely crash and burn. So I would celebrate each view, yet also pray for it to stop. I’m sure I’m not alone in this phobia of the very success we all wish for. Whether it is blog traffic, fitness goals, or shifting the relationship we have with ourselves.
We’re all afraid of our light because truthfully, it’s a lot more comfortable in the status quo even if it’s miserable. Misery is safe, it is familiar, it is easier to navigate. Stepping into our light is scary, and way too many times we cower from it to preserve ourselves from what we imagine will be a horrifying crash and burn. And maybe it will be. Or maybe it will also be epic and spectacular and breathtaking. Why not you?
Today is about choosing ourselves, embracing our light, and daring to go after what we want. Daring to want, deserve and go after what seems impossible.
Write yourself in.
