Let go of Perfection, Let in Patience and Compassion. Day 31 of #31DaysofSelfcompassion.

We made it!

Last day of #31daysofselfcompassion.

Thank you for hanging in with me and being willing to explore a different way to find your way back to yourself. Let me know which day you loved the most!

I leave you with this:

Perfection is very addictive because it is very seductive. It's so greate to think, "there's a way I can do things where I can never be held in judgment by other people, that I can totally escape criticism". but it doesn't work

I couldn’t think of a better quote to end this experiment, as the goal was to encourage each other to put a pause on the chase for perfection, and just breathe for a minute.

I focused on self-compassion rather than self-Love because for many of us, it can be difficult to even envision a space where loving ourselves is possible. But compassion, that’s within reach. It’s about being honest with your struggle and acknowledging that you don’t have it all figured out.

Self-compassion is about getting to know you exactly where you are, and practicing patience and tenderness for yourself. It is the space within which you start to understand that there has always been so much within you, while you spent so much energy trying to escape yourself.

Self-compassion helps you get honest with the fact that chasing perfection is really a fear of vulnerability, it’s the inability to believe yourself deserving of kindness, flaws and all, it’s the inability to trust that you are allowed to take a breather because right were you are, this can be enough.

As Lori Deschene said, “you cannot hate yourself into a you that you can love“. But when practicing self-Love feels impossible, start with compassion, start with forgiveness, start with patience, start with tenderness.

You’re doing the best you can.
